If you are wondering whether this book is going to teach you how to create amazing applets or incredible desktop or mobile applications, the answer is “no”—that is a job for other books. So many books out there can teach you those skills in C#, C++, or Java. Many of them even claim that they can teach you in 24 hours! Don’t laugh! They probably can do that, but all of them take one thing for granted—that the reader knows some basics about computer programming. None of those books, unfortunately, bothers to teach you the first thing that a novice programmer needs to learn, which is “Algorithmic Thinking.

Название: Executable Specifications with Scrum: A Practical Guide to Agile Requirements Discovery
Автор: Mario Cardinal
Издательство: Addison-Wesley Professional

Формат: PDF
Страниц: 192
Для сайта: litmy.ru
Размер: 2 Mb

Most books about specifications still assume that requirements can be known up front and won’t change much during your project. In today’s “real world,” however, you must specify and build software in the face of high and continuing uncertainty. Scrum and other agile methods have evolved to reflect this reality. Now, there’s a complete guide to specifying software in agile environments when prerequisites are unclear, requirements are difficult to grasp, and anything about your project could change.

Название: Computational and Inferential Thinking
Автор: David Wagner , Henry Milner
Издательство: Berkeley University
Год: 2017
Формат: pdf
Страниц: 646
Размер: 26.1 mb.
Язык: English

Data Science is about drawing useful conclusions from large and diverse data sets through exploration, prediction, and inference. Exploration involves identifying patterns in information. Prediction involves using information we know to make informed guesses about values we wish we knew. Inference involves quantifying our degree of certainty: will those patterns we found also appear in new observations? How accurate are our predictions? Our primary tools for exploration are visualizations and descriptive statistics, for prediction are machine learning and optimization, and for inference are statistical tests and models

Название: Category Theory for Programmers
Автор: Bartosz Milewski
Издательство: Autoedici?n
Год: 2017
Формат: pdf
Страниц: 510
Размер: 12.8 mb.
Язык: English

For some time now I’ve been floating the idea of writing a book about category theory that would be targeted at programmers. Mind you, not computer scientists but programmers — engineers rather than scientists. I know this sounds crazy and I am properly scared. I can’t deny that there is a huge gap between science and engineering because I have worked on both sides of the divide. But I’ve always felt a very strong compulsion to explain things. I have tremendous admiration for Richard Feynman who was the master of simple explanations. I know I’m no Feynman, but I will try my best. I’m starting by publishing this preface — which is supposed to motivate the reader to learn category theory — in hopes of starting a discussion and soliciting feedback.

Название: SafeScrum® – Agile Development of Safety-Critical Software
Автор: Geir Kjetil Hanssen
Издательство: Springer
Год: 2018
Страниц: 233
Формат: PDF, EPUB
Размер: 10 Mb
Язык: English

This book addresses the development of safety-critical software and to this end proposes the SafeScrum® methodology. SafeScrum® was inspired by the agile method Scrum, which is extensively used in many areas of the software industry. Scrum is, however, not intended or designed for use with safety-critical systems; hence the authors propose guidelines and additions to make it both practically useful and compliant with the additional requirements found in safety standards.

Название: Dealing with Imbalanced and Weakly Labelled Data in Machine Learning using Fuzzy and Rough Set Methods
Автор: Sarah Vluymans
Издательство: Springer
Год: 2019
Страниц: 249
Формат: PDF, EPUB
Размер: 13 Mb
Язык: English

This book presents novel classification algorithms for four challenging prediction tasks, namely learning from imbalanced, semi-supervised, multi-instance and multi-label data. The methods are based on fuzzy rough set theory, a mathematical framework used to model uncertainty in data. The book makes two main contributions: helping readers gain a deeper understanding of the underlying mathematical theory; and developing new, intuitive and well-performing classification approaches. The authors bridge the gap between the theoretical proposals of the mathematical model and important challenges in machine learning.
