In the past, we created a ready-made cam robot or Maqueen with Microbit incorporated. This time, we wanted to make it a little more handmade, so we assembled it using Tamiya's caterpillar. Until now, the focus was on things that move automatically, but children are more interested in those who can move them by themselves, so we chose something that can be easily operated with remote control. As an appendix, we have posted a kitchen timer made with Micro: bit alone, so please use it for practicing the program.
The remote control gives instructions on speed and direction, but we have prepared a mode that uses the variable resistor on the remote-control panel and a mode that uses the acceleration sensor built into the Micro: bit board.
The motor driver we are using sets the direction of rotation to CW, and if speed is set to minus, it will rotate in the direction of CCW. Because of this convenient function, we can decide forward or backward by the positive or negative of the speed value.
